Fernie school aged care Ltd (FSAC) opened its doors and welcomed its first students in 2011. It was noticed that there was no after school care (or full day care for full Fridays and school breaks) for school aged children in Fernie, so was independently created to fill the need and want for families in Fernie.
FSAC has an executive management team that work both on the floor and behind the scenes with the staff to create an environment where both children and staff are free to learn , have fun and grow within themselves and as well as a team. Executive management is made up of qualified early childhood Educators who combined have 25 years of experience and knowledge in their field and continue to update and upgrade their education.
All additional staff hired have an up to date criminal check, current first aid and CPR .A minimum requirement of a 30 hour responsible adult course along with a set and approved training schedule to complete before working in ratio with the children.
In 2014 FSAC won the provincial childcare award for innovation, this was a proud moment for the entire team as only 8 childcare facilities in all of BC were chosen for this award.
Fernie school aged care works alongside 'FSAC camps society' which is a not for profit organisation committed to ensuring quality full day camps are available to fernie's families.
